
Yucatán Sardine Run & Sailfish: One of the Most Spectacular Ocean Encounters in Mexico
Every winter, a rare and powerful marine phenomenon unfolds off the northern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. For a few short weeks, millions of sardines gather in dense schools, triggering an extraordinary chain reaction in the Caribbean Sea. This event, known as the Yucatán Sardine Run, attracts some of the ocean’s fastest and most elegant predators — the sailfish.
